So its true everything in Russia takes about ten times longer than it does here. It is less than a month till I leave and although I do have a flight to Russia, I still have not received my invitation letter. Without this letter I cannot apply for a visa and as a result my flight would be useless. But I have not given up hope! Supposedly the letters are in the mail on their way here as we speak, so with fingers crossed I will keep checking the mail.
Besides the delays with the visa I am slowly accumulating things for my trip as we are nearing d-day (departure day for me) August 25th. It will be sad to leave for the year and not be able to return to Juniata but I am bracing myself for a wonderful year abroad. I have already been exchanging emails with Zhenya, the girl with whom I am exchanging, and she has already made me feel very welcome! :) So for now I am waiting in bittersweet anticipation for the first venture into Volgograd.
